The facility, called the Blue Vault, features state-of-the-art hanging storage, which is important in preserving the art. The space located on the basement floor was once a classroom, prior to being shut down around the time of the pandemic. There are 40 mobile racks in the vault, each rack can hold more than 600 square feet of hanging, and more than 300lbs. Works will be protected by industry grade lighting and a water-leak detection system.

This project was overseen by Chief Curator and Collection Manager Liz Hicks, along with the museum’s Collections Stewardship Committee.

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_button button_url=”https://www.wfmj.com/story/53075041/butler-institute-expands-collection-storage-space?fbclid=IwY2xjawM2joVleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHqTyi87r3OZ-GSbypHNTtXDjGy-B_PNx1vGnVkDXk36cZptJpjj8dfWxv8GV_aem_nfukJ7cpAXRLvgFvudLbeg” button_text=”Watch Video” button_alignment=”left” _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” custom_button=”on” button_text_size=”15px” button_text_color=”#ffffff” button_bg_color=”#1f2b45″ button_border_width=”0px” button_border_radius=”44px” button_font=”Lato||||||||” background_layout=”dark” custom_margin=”||-15px|||” custom_padding=”5px|30px||30px|false|true” global_colors_info=”{}”][/et_pb_button][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row column_structure=”1_2,1_2″ _builder_version=”4.20.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”4.20.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_image src=”https://butlerart.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/IMG_7543_EDIT_lowres.jpg” alt=”Photograph taken outside The Butler, there are three visible arches, in the center arch is a sculpture of a Native American wearing a tribal headdress, his hand rests on his forehead to block the sun from his eyes.” title_text=”High Tea” _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”4.20.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” header_3_font=”Abhaya Libre||||||||” header_3_font_size=”30px” global_colors_info=”{}”]

Butler Museum’s $104,000 State Grant Is Most in Valley

The Butler Institute of American Art has received a $104,000 grant from the Ohio Arts Council.
