This unique exhibition features more than 60 engravings, etchings, and woodcuts, created by Rembrandt, Goya, and D\u00fcrer, three of art history\u2019s most celebrated masters of these complex mediums. This exhibition not only offers a stunning overview of 300 years of masterful printmaking, but it also presents the medium as a serious art form highlighting the thread that links these artists together, uncommon excellence.<\/p>\n

Albrecht D\u00fcrer (German, 1471-1528), one of the most highly acclaimed artists in German history, would become exceedingly adept in the mediums of both painting and engraving.<\/p>\n

Rembrandt van Rijin (Dutch, 1606-1669), as the Netherlands\u2019 young genius was evolving as the star of the Golden Age of Dutch painting, he would become an ardent admirer of Durer\u2019s work. With regard to his skill in etching, he remains the master without equal.<\/p>\n

Francisco Jose de Goya y Lucientes (Spanish, 1746-1828), when he was quoted as saying that he had \u201cbut three masters: nature, Rembrandt and Velazquez.\u201d\u00a0 As a renowned court painter Goya\u2019s beautifully executed canvases were rivaled only by his unequaled talent in the arena of etching.<\/p>\n

Louis Zona, Director says all three masters have had a monumental influence on artists throughout the world including numerous American artists. Exhibitions like this also serve to be educational to the wider population. Many individuals have perhaps never seen a Rembrandt, D\u00fcrer, or a Goya. This exhibition fills that need. Dr. Zona will give a talk on the Old Masters during the run of the exhibition.<\/p>\n

This exhibition was organized by Carole Sorell Incorporated, curated by Leigh Hendry and sponsored by the Park West Foundation and is on view in the Mesaros Galleries.<\/p>\n
